In case you missed them, here’s a re-cap on goings-on here at HGT in the month of February 2012. It was a busy month! There were super bowl and bar food recipes, Valentine’s day (which I mostly ignored), and lots of international cuisine. From the super American corn dog, to Korean comfort food, and back full circle with some funky fusion – it was a delicious month.
Julie and Ovi’s Favorite Recipe of the Month:
These beautiful sandwiches were the unanimous favorite this month. There’s so much to love! Succulent pulled pork, homemade carrot/daikon pickles, and a bevy of herbs. Oh my! The series of recipes required to put together this beast of a sandwich will most certainly be repeated soon in our kitchen.

Most Popular Recipe of the Month:
When I posted this recipe, I had no idea what was in store. It’s all over the internet, and is officially the most popular recipe of all time on HGT. It looks like the people of the internet love the super American, and totally kid-friendly corn dog. Sure, it’s no culinary revelation, but simple nostalgic foods are just what we need sometimes. These were simple, and much enjoyed in our home.
The Rest of the Goods:
Salsa Roja with Roasted Garlic and Pepppers
Vietnamese Pizza with Spicy Peanut Sauce
Do Chua – Pickled Carrot and Daikon Ribbons
Vietnamese Pulled Pork with Lemongrass Glaze
Vegan Espresso Shortbread Cookies
Tomato Basil Soup – Meal from the Pantry
I’ve been working on trying to improve my photography skills in the last month, and I must say – I’m pleased with the progress so far! I was looking back at the first post on the blog from a few months back, and the improvements are vast. I definitely owe a big thank you to Ashley over at Edible Perspective for her super helpful food photography tutorial series. The tutorials were invaluable to me as I tried to get reacquainted with my trusty SLR.
Here’s to a food and fun filled March! I’m really looking forward to springtime.
