Smoky, crunchy and satisfying – roasted almonds are a great choice for a healthy grab and go snack. The protein helps curb hunger, and they’re a great source of vitamin E. Eat them on their own, top your salad, or garnish your veggies. Easy to make, delicious, and good for you. Hooray for almonds!
Have you ever tried to navigate the “snack food” aisle at your local market on the hunt for a healthy option? They’re really hard to find! Even the items marketed as healthy choices are pretty deceiving. They’re often loaded with sodium, and a load of other ingredients that I can’t decipher. I prefer not to eat that stuff. Not out of some high moral standing….I’m just picky. I don’t like paying for food, and receiving weird, faux food, chemically stuff. Some times items marketed as “healthy”, “low cal”, and “diet” are the worst of them. Solution – make your own snacks. It’s really quick, and much cheaper.
- 2 cups raw almonds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- Add almonds to a mixing bowl and toss with oil and seasonings
- Spread on a baking sheet and roast in your preheated oven for 14 minutes, stirring halfway through
- Store at room temperature in an airtight container
A giant 3 pound bag of raw almonds was among my recent Costco purchases. It was only $6.00. Pretty good right? Those wimpy little bags of nuts at my local grocery store seem pretty overpriced now. I promise I’m not being bribed to say this stuff. Though….if you’re listening Costco, I can be persuaded…*wink wink*
